I love this small guy! : Roomba 440 Cordless Robot Vacuum
If you have multiple pets, long-haired pets, short, bald or in-between critters--You Gotta Have This Thing!
I'll admit that my expectations for this presumed "gizmo" were quite low. However, with 3 cats and a 70 lb black Pit Bull, it was assuredly worth a try. Two days into watching this amazingly efficient gismo do its thing, it was clear that the Roomba 440 was a keeper. I let it run overnight, turned it over and marveled at the sight. Neatly packed into the maintain tank was handfuls of pet hair, kitty litter, coins and even a whole grape that found its way into a corner. Make no mistake- this is a real vacuum cleaner. Granted, the power is low, but read on- the "program" has the Roomba vacuuming the whole room at least 3 or four times. 25 minutes later both rug on wood floor were spotless. The number of fur and dirt picked up is nothing short of astonishing.
A bit about the gismo itself. The Model 440 is packaged with the same care and presentation you'd expect from hi-end electronics. It is ready to work practically immediately (although I let it fee until "full", which was about 10 minutes later). From box to floor (minus battery charge) is about 1 minutes. You insert the battery (slide it in and "click") place it on your floor and touch the big illuminated button on top. A cheery song confirms your activation, and and away it goes!.
For what it does, the noise level is unobtrusive (similar to a good hand vac)-- but the operation blows away anything I've ever seen in any hand vac. I won't bore you with exact operations. All you need to know is that 25 minutes later, your living area, bedroom, kitchen- even tile floors look like the maid just left. Do you assuredly need to know anything else?
Well- perhaps only this-- The gismo is strictly for floors- carpeted or otherwise. You cannot use it as a hand vac--although there is a "spot clean mode". Touch here, and place it dead town of the selected area. The Roomba spins and circles in an outward spiral of about 4 feet diameter. One last spin and then it spirals inwards and turned off right where you placed it. This cycle take 2 minutes or so and is foolproof.
Don't expect the operation of a pro tank vac. On the other hand, there is No human participation. The Roomba is remarkably effective.
A final note to pet owners. My Pit Bull goes nuts with an lowly vacuum and the Roomba is no different. To my kids delight, our smart doggie succeeded at turning the gismo off and on by hitting the large illuminated button with her nose! The next day, she lost all interest in the Roomba. I'm sorry that I didn't video the event for Youtube! Our three cats just sit and watch the gismo which seems to either fascinate or bore them.
Enough said. This small robot rocks!
